Youth invited to rugby trials

MIDRAND – Clinics and trials will take place on 11, 18 and 25 February starting at 10am until 12 noon at the school's rugby fields.

 

Midrand Rugby Development invites youth interested in playing rugby to attend clinics and trials at Midrand High School.

Rugby coach at Midrand High School Kwazi Shangase said to improve rugby skills in Midrand schools, a plan had been devised with the consent of the provincial department of education and surrounding high schools to form one structure that would facilitate junior rugby in the area.

Midrand High School will host all interested youth from age 14 to 19. “The school is established in its own structures, with three thriving teams and two great coaches. The school is equipped with rugby equipment and is officially Boksmart certified to play and facilitate rugby,” said Shangase.

Clinics and trials will take place on 11, 18 and 25 February starting at 10am until 12 noon at the school’s rugby fields.

“We compete in the Beeld Cup Challenge (Pool C) at U14 and 15, U16 and U18 level. Throughout the year we participate in all the Gauteng department of education and union run competitions, including Iqawe U15 week, and the girls’ 7s tournaments,” added Shangase.
