Drug case postponed

ALEXANDRA – Suspect's drug case delayed as court seeks interpreter.

The case of alleged possession of illegal drugs by a man was postponed by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to enable the court to secure his home language interpreter.

The suspect, who was said to have tried to bribe a police officer, was arrested at a night club in Midrand after allegedly being found in the possession of 1.13g of methcathinone, or cat.

The value of the drugs was not specified.

A police officer found the drugs wrapped in plastic in the man’s pocket. The suspect allegedly offered the officer a bribe of R200. The suspect was arrested for the bribe and drug possession and was granted bail of R500.

The case continues.
