Lifeline for cancer patients

JOBURG— CanSurvive teaches volunteers how to interact with and help cancer patients.

Cancer Buddy, an initiative run by CanSurvive that supports patients in the beginning, middle or end stages of the illness, will hold a training session at the Netcare Auditorium in Sandton on 18 February.

The course will equip volunteers with skills to help cancer patients undergoing treatment and, in a way, teach them to become their ‘buddies’. They will be educated about the disease and taught how to communicate with patients when visiting them.
