A clampdown on drugs

MIDRAND – A security guard was arrested for dealing in drugs, in Midrand's Section 2.

 

A crime prevention and high visibility operation, under the command of Midrand police’s Captain Lionel Chetty assisted by Community Policing Forum members and security companies, was held on 19 January.

Police communications officer, Matome Tlamela said a security guard on duty was arrested during the operation by Warrant Officer Rajan Pillay for dealing in drugs at a local service station.

Tlamela said the security guard was under the influence of alcohol at the time of his arrest.

The police thanked the forum and security companies for their support during the operation.

Midrand crime intelligence is appealing to the community for any information they might have on suspicious drug-related criminal activities, along with stolen property and illegal firearms.

The police have assured that all information given to them will remain confidential and the person reporting any suspicious activity will remain anonymous if necessary.
