Woman arrested for concealment of birth

MIDRAND – Kaalfontein woman arrested for dumping fetus.

 

Ivory Park police officers made the shocking discovery of two fetuses on 17 January at Kaalfontein Ext 1 and arrested a 28-year-old woman in connection with one of them.

A police team was on patrol when they were alerted to the existence of one fetus found in an open area. While the police were attending to the scene, the officers were alerted to the discovery of another fetus, which was about 100 metres away from the first discovery.

With the help of observant community members, the police officers were able to then arrest a woman, who resides nearby, after she was allegedly seen throwing away a blood-filled bucket.

The woman admitted to throwing a bucket away which contained blood and the fetus.

She was arrested and charged with concealment of birth.

The police are urging community members who have information regarding the second fetus to come forward.

Ivory Park Police Station Commander, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, welcomed the community’s vigilance in this matter which resulted in a speedy arrest.
