Midrand Primary School to hold inter-house games

MIDRAND – Lions, leopards, tigers and pumas will go head to head this Friday

Midrand Primary School will hold its annual inter-house games at the school on 20 January.

The event will take place from 8am. All grades will participate and be divided into four teams: tigers, lions, leopards and pumas. The school’s sports administrator, Masego Mashiane, said teachers and pupils were looking forward to the day.

“This is also an opportunity for the children to scream and dance as much as they want to, an opportunity they get only once in a year,” said Mashiane.

Pupils who do well will qualify to compete at Halfway House Primary School against other Midrand schools. Winners will then proceed to provincial level. Last year, 12 pupils qualified for the provincial games.

Mashiane said she hoped this year more children would get to that stage. “We did very well last year. I am hoping that we will increase the number and do exceptionally well in other sporting codes, unlike last year when we performed well only in the long jump and high jump,” she said.
