Seven distinctions for pupil

MIDRAND – Mohammed Shaikjee of Nizamiye Primary and High School in Midrand has achieved seven distinctions.

 

Mohammed Shaikjee, of Nizamiye Primary and High School in Midrand, scored seven distinctions in his final matric examinations and attributed his success to a balanced academic programme and avoiding social media.

Shaikjee, a boarder from Pietermaritzburg, lauded his teachers and boarding establishment mentors for creating an educational environment that is conducive to the attainment of his personal goals.

“They have been reservoirs of skills, knowledge, patience and support. We were allowed to interrogate the curriculum, which allowed us a critical engagement with our education. The boarding establishment ensured that we participated in a structured study regimen. It was really useful to engage with my peers, to share ideas and to deflect stress. This is evinced by the results of the entire matric class, especially Safa Karabulut and Ebrahim Ahmed who achieved four A aggregates,” said Shaikjee.

He said he was particularly pleased with the distinction he received in additional mathematics. Although the subject was not covered within the school’s academic programme, he had to pursue it after school and on weekends at a tuition centre administered by a trust affiliated with the school.

The principal, Engin Gul praised Shaikjee’s diligence. He added that the youngster epitomises the characteristics which underline academic consistency and personal growth. “The school is adamant that we produce learners who can segue seamlessly into global expectations.

“This group, our second crop of matriculants, has already built on the legacy of our 2015 class and has established benchmarks of excellence that we intend to attain effortlessly. Our learners excel in national and international olympiads and competitions. These interactions allow them exposure to international standards and this cascades into the classroom.”
