Musical talent bursts out of Midrand

JOBURG – Midrand is packed with musical talent.

A new musical group is bringing its unique sounds straight out of Midrand and directly to the ears of African music lovers.

Tarajika is an ensemble of innovative musicians who create their very own brand of house music with unique sounds and musical elements from different African nations.
The band is made up of three members and they truly do create a unique style of music of their own. “We do dance music – be it Afro-house, commercial house or dee house,” the band members explained.

The group is still fairly new to the music industry, but they are well on their way to becoming a household name as they bring good music to local music lovers and attempt to unite the world in their own small way through music.

“We started performing in 2013 and came together after the xenophobic attacks. We wanted to be an example of how great we can be as Africans since we all come from different countries. We also saw a gap in the dance scene, [so we want to] bring something uniquely African and authentic; and we love dance music,” the members said.

“We wanted the world to see the power of what music can do – and that is to unite people and [show that] it doesn’t matter where you come from.”
The industry newcomers have officially released their first album, in good faith and good spirits; inspired by some industry legends.

“We currently have just finished our debut album and we are promoting a new single entitled Take Me Away.”

The band’s live performances have been described by fans and friends as energetic and full of true African rhythm that will have listeners moving to the beat. With such positive responses already, they’re aiming high in the next year.

“We feel that 2017 is our year and we are aiming to reach platinum sales on our first project,” Tarajika concluded.
