Eating and buying out is out

JOHANNESBURG – Make food your lifestyle, read more here.

With a busy lifestyle, fast food is becoming the easy, but expensive, option.

However, there are ways to avoid buying fast food, with cooking at home allowing one to save time, money and become more healthy.

Mother of two and local resident, Ilze Delport, explained that to avoid buying out, it was important to plan your time efficiently and to create a time-saving routine.

She urged community members to shop at local grocery stores and to read local food and health magazines offered at these stores which offer fresh and healthy recipes and the needed ingredients.

“All the ingredients in the [health] magazines you can get… so you know you don’t have to drive all over town. This helps me with new ideas, saves time and money,” said Delport.

Fitness instructor, Imogen van Wyk said, “We do not eat to get full, we eat to nurture our bodies.”

Van Wyk is not a believer in diets, but she is a firm believer in a healthy eating lifestyle.

“Yes it does take a little bit more planning, but in the end, it is your body and you need your body to get through your days,” said Van Wyk.

She advised that people should keep to a regular eating plan until it became a habit and also not to eat starch in the evening. “Eat a sturdy breakfast which will reduce cravings through the day and keep your energy levels up.

“If you are smart about what groceries you buy and how you stock your pantry, then you will always have what you need to create a quick and healthy meal before you leave home and to prepare meals for your day at the office.”
