Taxi and truck collide

MIDRAND – Taxi and truck collided on the N1 North in Midrand and resulted in 17 injuries.

 

Seventeen people were injured on 6 December, after a taxi rolled multiple times and collided with a truck on the N1 North after the Buccleuch interchange, in Midrand.

Emer-g-med’s Max Cohen said, “It’s believed that one of the taxi’s back tyres burst, resulting in the driver losing control and causing the taxi to roll multiple times before a truck collided with it.”

At about, just before 1pm Emer-g-med dispatched a response vehicle as well as multiple ambulances to the scene.

Cohen said, On assessment paramedics found that the seventeen patients, including a one-month old child, had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

The injured were treated on the scene before being transported to various nearby hospitals, including Tembisa Hospital, for further care.

The Metro Police were at the scene for further investigations about the collision.
