Hairpiece extensions lands man in jail

IVORY PARK – Hairpiece extension lends man in hot water.

A 33-year-old man from Ivory Park was arrested after being found in possession of three bags full of hair extensions believed to be stolen on 2 December.

The suspect was apprehended at Ivory Park Ext 9 after police received a tip-off from community members. When police arrived at the scene, they found the man loading the bags into a Toyota Venture.

“He claimed to have been hired by two men to transport the bags to Tembisa. While police were questioning the man who was loading the bags in the vehicle, two other men came out of a nearby shop and fled,” said spokesperson for Ivory Park Police Station, Captain Bernard Matimulane.

“The police then became suspicious that there was more to what the man was revealing and investigated further. That is when it was discovered that the goods were stolen.”

A shop owner later identified the goods, valued at R30 000, as his. Police are looking for the other two suspects while the arrested man remains in police custody.

“We have said time and again that we will be out in full force this festive season in ensuring that the people of Ivory Park and their property are safe. This arrest bears testimony to this commitment, and, with the community playing their part, I don’t see why this cannot be achieved,” added Ivory Park station commander, Brigadier David Ngcobo.
