Local, lekker beer launched

JOBURG – There's a new beer in town that only a few have had the pleasure of tasting…

Made by South Africans for South Africans, a brand new local and independently produced beer is officially available to beer lovers across the country.

The 5 Skippas superior golden lager is the new beer on the block and it has already crept its way into the hearts of local beer drinkers, magically finding it to make the all-important leap from unknown brand to beer of choice.

The beer, and its now coined name, is a product of the now legendary interview between former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper-turned TV presenter and entrepreneur, Deshi Bhaktawer, and enamoured fan turned spokesperson, Good Enough Sithole.

The beer has been described as a smooth and refreshing reflection of local spirit and the love for sport.

Speaking at the product’s launch event held at the 44 Stanley Beer Yard, Bhaktawer told the crowd of opinion leaders about his inspiration behind the 5 Skippas project.

One thing that stands out most about the beer is its name and founders of the product feel that ‘5 Skippas was a great, great name for a great, great beer’.

Five years is how long it’s taken for this product to come together and all those involved have worked tirelessly to research and understand what people like and do not like in a beer.

About the beer itself; 5 Skippas comes in at a higher alcohol content than their competitors. This is just one of the reasons they believe that their product has a great combination for success.

The evening was a great success, with guests indulging in the new beer and feasting on braai meat basted in the beverage, just to add to the experience.

Sithole, the brand ambassador for the beer, attended the launch along with a number of bloggers, industry leaders and even legendary local musician, Ringo Madlingozi.

While the beer is not yet available in stores, it is available on order.
