Man left to die on the side of the road

MIDRAND – Police are looking for a lead on a hit-and-run incident that took place on the R55.

Metro police are looking for information on a hit-and-run incident that took place in the early hours of 6 November in Midrand.

Johannesburg Metro police spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said, “The hit and run occurred at 6am on the R55. A 27-year-old male pedestrian was killed.”

Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe who was at the scene also commented and said, “The R55 is very dark at night and cars speed down that road. There are Lesotho nationals living along the K60 road reserve, working as builders in the area. They are affected by speeding as they are close to that road.”

Minnaar said anyone with information on the incident can contact the Johannesburg Metro Police Department call centre on 011 375 5911.
