UPDATE: Centre management talks about weekend bomb threat

MIDRAND – Carslwald, Lonehill and Bellair shopping centres were searched by the bomb squad due to bomb scares.

Century Property Development and Tintswalo Property Group, the owners and managing companies of Lonehill, Bellair, Crowthorne and Carlswald shopping centres have been the victim of threatening anonymous bomb scare emails. The latest bomb scare was on 30 October and directed at Bellair Mall, Carlswald Lifesyle Centre and Lonehill Shopping Centre. Sergeant Matome Tlamela of Midrand police confirmed there was a bomb scare at Midrand’s Carlswald LifestyleCentre on 30 October. She added that a bomb squad had swept the centre and nothing was found. Tintswalo Property Group is a family business and the threats have not only been directed at the company. Family members have also received numerous death threats. Due to these threats and the current ongoing police investigations, the family has chosen not to comment on how far the investigations are as well as the security measures the family has taken. Thus far all these bomb scares have been no more than hoaxes. Both Century and Tintswalo assume that these scares – which they called ‘cyber terrorism’ – are attempts to harm the company and the family. The Century and Tintswalo families are devastated by the effects the bomb scares are having on local businesses and the community. Security has been stepped up at all the centres. As the festive season draws near, Century and Tintswalo urge patrons and local communities not to withdraw their support of the tenants.
