MIDRAND – Woman dies after trying to stop a fight on New Road Midrand.

A woman was shot dead after an alleged altercation with a man from a tracking company on 28 October.  The woman and three other occupants in a BMW vehicle, were coming from a Christmas party, driving along New Road just before the N1 offramp, behind the tracking vehicle.

Midrand Police spokesperson Sergeant Matome Tlamela said according to eye witnesses, at around 8pm, a white bakkie from a tracking company wanted to pull over the white BMW due to reckless driving. “Both drivers then stopped and the driver of the BMW walked to the bakkie and started to argue and fight with the driver of the bakkie,one of the BMW passengers, the deceased, ran to them to stop the argument but ,a shot went off and fatally wounding the lady,” said Tlamela.

The driver of the bakkie was arrested for murder.

Ria Sebetsa Security’s Danny Maduray said, “We received a call that there was a shooting on New Road, when we arrived we were sad to find that a woman had already died.”

Police and paramedics were at the scene just after 8pm and were at the scene till early hours of 29 October. The tracking company has not yet been available for comment.
