Free health care for Ivory Park residents

MIDRAND – The Rotary Club of Kyalami and the Department of Health take health services to residents.

 

The Rotary Club of Kyalami, in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Health, provided free health services under the Rotary Family Health Days 2016 initiative.

Free health services included TB screening and testing, HIV counselling and testing, immunisation, health screening such as blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, hearing screening and other services.

Rotary Club of Kyalami’s foundation officer, George Mbuthia said Rotary Family Health Days events were held at 110 locations across South Africa from 12 to 14 October.

Mbuthia added that the department provided logistics for the sites with support from Rotary volunteers.

“This year, there is a particular focus on adolescent girls and young women as part of the department’s strategic plan. The campaign will fast-track efforts to empower young people, especially adolescent girls and women,” concluded Mbuthia.

A resident who brought her mother for free health checks, Thato Ndlovu said, “My mother does not have medical aid, I am so thankful for this free service as this is something I would have had to pay for if we had gone to a private doctor.”
