The Orbit, a popular jazz lounge in Braamfontein has been vandalized, due to the protests that took place on the night of 14 October. This is according to a post on the facebook profile on the morning of 15 October. According to the post an SABC vehicle was torched and their premises front windows were smashed.
Management of the Orbit declined to comment.
The Wits SRC has since asked students to come forward if they have been injured.

The University of the Witwatersrand has seen more clashes between #WitsMustFall protesters and law enforcement on the the night of 14 October.
The protesters who formed a new hashtag, #HabibsApartheid, seemingly frustrated by the university’s announcement to put a curfew of 10pm, are said to have took to the streets during the night.

Metro Police’s spokesperson, Wayne Minnaar, confirmed that nine protester had been arrested for various criminal acts which include looting of a supermarket, torching an SABC vehicle, a white Mercedez and a tow truck that was parked on the side of the road.
“We cannot confirm that the nine that were arrested were registered students, that will come out in the investigation but they were definitely part of the protests,” said Minnaar.
He said that metro police would continue to monitor the situation outside of the campus. “We are committed to monitoring the area closely. Calm has been restored to the area this morning,” he said.
North Eastern Tribune was unsucessful in reaching Shirona Patel, Wits’ spokesperson and the Wits SRC for comment. However, the SRC has been actively commenting on their twitter account, claiming that police had been shooting at students indiscriminately.
