Two most wanted suspects nabbed

MIDRAND – Ivory Park Police have arrested two suspects who have been wanted for many years.

 

A man on the run for almost six years has been rearrested and is due to appear in Tembisa Magistrates’ Court thanks to the diligence of Ivory Park police’s hardworking detectives.

The suspect was wanted on a charge of possession of two firearms. Ivory Park police spokesperson Captain Bernard Matimulane said, “Vincent Thoka Maesela, 38, was first arrested six years ago in Ivory Park for alleged possession of firearms, and was granted bail. While on bail, he was rearrested together with five suspects for a robbery which took place in Mpumalanga.

“The accused was on trial in Mpumalanga for the robbery case, and Ivory Park police later established that [Maesela] was already incarcerated in Mpumalanga. He was then brought from Mpumalanga by police to appear at Tembisa Magistrates Court on 28 September, the case is ongoing.”

Matimulane revealed that another suspect was sought for a housebreaking and theft case. “Adam Mampuru, 31, has been on the run for almost nine years until he was finally located two months ago. He was rearrested in Ivory Park, absconded bail and ran off to Polokwane where he was again rearrested. Mampuru is alleged to have committed the crime in Ivory Park Ext 2 in 2006,” Matimulane explained.

The acting station commander at Ivory Park Police Station, Colonel Baba Matthews Mpotoane has welcomed the arrests. He said, “These arrests should serve as a warning to any fugitive, anywhere, that Ivory Park police will not rest on our laurels until the suspects wanted in connection with crimes committed in the Ivory Park precinct have answered to the charges levelled against them.”
