Give a cat or dog a loving home

MIDRAND – Can you give a cat or dog a home? Contact Midrand SPCA.

Midrand SPCA is looking for new homes for the many cats and dogs in its care.

You can make an appointment to walk through the organisation’s kennels or, if you’re reluctant to do so, the Midrand SPCA will arrange for you to meet a couple of animals, based on the information you’ve supplied on your adoption form, in the privacy of one of the exercise runs.

Midrand SPCA chairperson, Brenda Lucas said you can have time to get to know each animal and help you make your selection. “Once you’ve decided which dog or cat you’d like to adopt, one of the pre-placement officers will visit your home. This ensures that your property is suitable for the animal concerned.

“Should it be found that an animal that was adopted is being abused, the SPCA will remove the animal and lay cruelty charges against the person who adopted the animal.”

Midrand SPCA will take the following into account:

  • Other animals in the family
  • Children’s ages
  • Level of family’s activity, such as how often the dog will be exercised
  • How long the dog, especially a puppy, will be left alone
  • Size of the property.

Lucas added, “If the property check is approved, the selected animal will be booked for sterilisation/castration before leaving for its new home. The cost of adoption is R750 which includes the sterilisation or castration, 5-in-1 vaccination, rabies, microchip and dewormer.”

Details: Complete the adoption application form on www.midrandspca.co.za and email it to manager@midrandspca.co.za or fax it to 011 265 9937.
