The company’s chief executive officer, Danny Maduray saidthe company, in its commitment to combat crime, works in joint operations for Midrand police and other security companies. He said, “We, together with other security companies in Midrand, are visible in active patrols in the community and conduct regular vehicle and ongoing foot patrols in combating crime and deterring criminals.”

He recalled an incident where they even rescued a tortoise that went astray from one of the nearby properties; and how the company’s clients drive to the security company’s offices when they feel unsafe or suspect they are being followed. Recently, there was an incident at the school where a child was knocked down by a vehicle and Ria Sebetsa assisted.

Maduray stated, “We receive many calls from the community requesting help. Some distress calls that we receive from our community include women being followed by criminals, attempted hijackings, suspicious persons in property, indecent exposure, missing children, domestic violence, street robberies, accidents and medical emergencies, which are referred to our partner, Netcare 911,” he explained.

Speaking about incidents that come through, he said, “We always encourage the community to call the Midrand police first and we also dispatch our personnel to the scene.”

He mentioned the only way to fight crime is for security companies, the police and Community Policing Forums to work together in joint operations, adding that communities need to work together with them. If they suspect any suspicious activity or behaviour they must contact the police.
