Three organisations clean up one taxi rank

MIDRAND – Cleanliness is next to godliness and it is for this reason that a local church joined hands with two businesses to clean up a taxi rank.

The City of Johannesburg, Pikitup and King’s Court Church joined forces to clean up Midrand Taxi Rank.

The month of September has seen a series of clean-up campaigns, led by the City of Johannesburg, in and around the Midrand Central Business District.

Pastor Raphael Obi Ukaegbu, the senior pastor of King’s Court Church said, “As a religious organisation and a responsible community body, we felt the need as a church to partner with the City of Johannesburg and Pikitup to continue to avert the potential health risk that our community is faced with. Cleanliness is certainly next to godliness.”

Lesiba Monakedi, City of Johannesburg’s urban inspector for integrated service delivery said, “The City wants to strengthen and work closely with community organisations to mitigate the health risks caused by the litter that is seen at our taxi ranks. “We are delighted that religious organisations have joined our network of stakeholders who are at the helm of participating is such campaigns.”
