Beaulieu College celebrated Heritage Day with a special assembly and picnic.
A teacher at the school, Sally Jones said the assembly featured cultural dancing, praise poetry, traditional songs and a fashion show where pupils could volunteer to model their traditional or national dress.

She added, “We are a school that reflects South African culture and acknowledge each and every one as an individual, and South Africa is a heterogeneous country with so many different ethnicities, histories, backgrounds and cultures.”

Jones said Heritage Day was created to celebrate all that goes into this unique South African identity, and to give people a chance to reflect on themselves and their past, present and future.
The day ended with a picnic on the field where the pupils got to share their ethnic diversity in a form everyone loves, which is, food.
