The Midrand Lebone Schools Play Festival, now in its second year, took place at Midrand English Medium Primary School on 13 August.
The festival coordinator, Brian Jokozela said the festival was the brainchild of the primary school’s speech and drama group and is aimed at exposing and nurturing the talent of pupils who aspire to be future theatre practitioners.
Jokozela furthermore said the festival is aimed at developing the level of arts in schools to meet that of other common sporting codes. At the festival, a lot of talent was on display with a number of categories on show from mini plays, dramatised poems and solo verses, to monologues and dialogues.
Multiple schools participated in the festival such as Midrand Primary and High School and Sagewood School.
The festival ended off with every pupil receiving a certificate for their participation. The certificates awarded bronze, silver and gold.
