Nando’s honouring Nokubonga Mbili.

MIDRAND – Nando's is running a campaign to celebrate the life of Nokubonga Mbili.

Nando’s is running a campaign called, Good For You, which celebrates and honours young, hardworking South Africans who excel and are making a huge difference in their lives.

Therefore, Su-Lise Tessendorf the general manager of strategy, brand and communications at Nando’s said their public relations and communications division, Flow, and Nando’s scour the news every day to find national, regional and local young people doing great things and who are an inspiration to the coming generation.

For the month of August Nando’s has selected their former employee Nokubonga Mbili, who is currently doing her two-year internship at Siemens in electrical engineering.

Tessendorf said the franchise has always believed in investing in the people of South Africa, and initiatives such as this keep the brand story alive and relevant. Mbili started her journey with the franchise in 2011 following a lengthy period of unemployment after she matriculated in 2008.

She was raised by a single mother in a mud hut situated in Adams Mission, KwaZulu-Natal, revealing that she had a good childhood.

In 2012, she started studying for her Electrical Engineering Diploma at Mangosuthu University of Technology and continued working as a part-time employee, regardless of being a beneficiary of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme.

Her story came under the spotlight after her appearance on Ispani, which is a TV show that assists jobseekers and employers find each other in less time.

Mbili’s message is aimed at encouraging other young people to persist and work hard at improving their lives.
