Crowthorne resident fed up with road construction

CROWTHORNE – Safety measures not put in place and negligence displayed in the reconstruction of Arthur Road.

Yves Lagauche, a disgruntled resident of Arthur Road in Crowthorne, is fed up with the road construction that has been going on for months in front of his gate.

Lagauche said the road was widened, therefore brought closer to his gate, and now he and his family have to use a red flag to stop oncoming traffic whenever they have to enter and exit their home.

He furthermore stated that the initial contractor had promised to shift his gate backwards in order to accommodate the changes, but that was not done.

The construction work is being done on the corner of Main and Arthur roads in Crowthorne and continues up Arthur Road, eventually reaching a dangerous busy intersection which has no stop signs, speed bumps or robots.

Lagauche claimed to have contacted the Johannesburg Roads Agency on numerous occasions, yet no attention has been given to his plea.

The agency was contacted by Midrand Reporter regarding the matter and Bertha Peter-Scheepers, the spokesperson for the agency, said she was unaware of this matter but has promised to investigate the case.
