Business robberies on the rise

MIDRAND – Don't buy stolen goods and report any person selling suspected stolen property.

Members of Ivory Park Police Station and its youth desk members visited Kaalfontein Ext 5 for a door-to-door crime awareness campaign.

Spokesperson for Ivory Park Police Station, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said the teams distributed flyers containing police emergency numbers including the contact numbers of the area’s sector manager, sector vehicle and operational commander.

Ivory Park police officers speak to a tuck shop owner during a crime awareness campaign.

Sekgobela said, “The area has a huge number of business robberies targeting tuck shops owned by foreign nationals. Suspects are robbing them of items such as money, cigarettes and airtime.

“The aim of the campaign is to encourage the neighbourhood spirit and to encourage members of the community not to buy stolen goods as this will promote crime.”
