A man was arrested in Ivory Park Ext 2 when he was allegedly found inside a stationary vehicle that had been reported hijacked.
Ivory Park Police Station’s spokesperson, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said, “The 27-year-old suspect was arrested on 22 July by members of Ekurhuleni Metro police, who then brought him to Ivory Park Police Station.
Metro police received a message from the station’s control room about a tracking device’s signal from a vehicle, which had previously been reported stolen, parked in an open veld in Ivory Park.
“Metro police found the suspect inside the parked vehicle. Police are investigating how the suspect ended up with the vehicle. The vehicle was tested and the investigation revealed that it was hijacked at KwaMhlanga this month,” said Sekgobela.
The suspect will soon appear at the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court.
