Resident complains about Joburg Water’s work

MIDRAND – A long wait for assistance from Joburg Water for a Midrand resident.

Midrand resident, John Kimble, has waited a long time for Johannesburg Water to fix the road and kerb they damaged after repairing a water leak from a fire hydrant next to his driveway.

“I tried to contact to Joburg Water for over six months now to get help, but to no avail,” he said.

“I have now turned to the Johannesburg Roads Agency which has given me a reference number but said that it will take seven weeks for the repairs to be done.”

When contacted by Midrand Reporter, Johannesburg Water’s spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene said, “We are conducting investigations to determine what the actual cause of the problem is. The customer has been contacted and our Midrand Customer Care team is following up to get a clear sense of the matter towards a speedy resolution.

“Under normal circumstances, the Johannesburg Water depot doing maintenance work or repairs is responsible for liaising with the relevant municipal entity to complete repairs, which would, in this case, be the roads agency.”

Johannesburg Roads Agency spokesperson Bertha Peters-Scheepers said, “A team will be sent to the location to repair the damaged kerbs.”
