Summerhill College soccer tournament a success

JOHANNESBURG - Schools meet in Summerhill College's first annual soccer tournament

 

Summerhill College has hosted the first of what will become an annual event, the Summerhill College Soccer tournament.

In the opens division of the tournament, the college played against Bluehills College, Kings College, Noordwyk Secondary School and Kensington Secondary School. The top two teams in the opens division Noordwyk Secondary School and Kensington Secondary School played in the final with Kensigton Secondary School winning 1–0.

In the U16 tournament, Summerhill College, Kensington Secondary School, Noordwyk Secondary School and Kings College played against each other and Summerhill College beat Kensington Secondary School 2–0 in the final.

Kensington Secondary School play in the opens final and won.

The college’s coach Morgan Moodley said each school played four matches and the top two teams in the U16 and opens division competed for the trophies. “This tournament was an amazing success. Schools and their teams came together and played like professionals. We are thrilled to have been able to establish a new annual sporting fixture that we endeavor to take forward for many years to come,” he said.
