Responding to an incident in which a teacher had been robbed while walking, Ria Sebetsa Security couldn’t find the suspected culprit but instead came across another man in possession of illegal substances.
At about 6.24am on 18 July, security officers searched for the robber on the corner of Le Roux Avenue and Smuts Drive and then moved their search to The Vlei in Vorna Valley as it was close to where the teacher was robbed.
Danny Maduray, chief executive officer of the security company said, “We were searching for the guy that robbed the teacher at The Vlei. However, none of the teacher’s belongings were found.”
Maduray said at The Vlei, the team found a handbag that looked like it belonged to a woman, but the teacher confirmed that it was not hers. The team also found a suitcase filled with clothes. As they continued their search, the team came across a man who seemed to have been living in The Vlei.
In his possession were a bag of dagga and a powdery substance.
“We called the police to arrest him and they confiscated the bag and the white powder as evidence,” Maduray said.
According to Maduray, the man possessing the illegal substances was arrested and the teacher was accompanied by the police to Midrand Police Station to open a case.
Midrand Police Station was unable to comment on either one of the cases by the time of this article being published.
