What to do in the last week of the holidays

JOHANNESBURG – See it all before schools reopen.

There are only a few school holidays left, but there’s still a ton of stuff to do!

With so many holiday activities to choose from, City Buzz has provided a breakdown of some of the most exciting things to do with the children or even the entire family.

Astonishing Anatomy

Taking place at the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Newtown, the Astonishing Anatomy holiday programme is sure to get everyone interested in the human anatomy and learning more about how the body works. The centre wants to get you thinking about how your brain works, how your heart pumps blood and how food is broken down in your body. This exhibition is currently open and runs until 17 July.

Gateway to Space

This exhibition brings, for the first time, the great adventure of space exploration to South Africa. Along with the wonder and the drama of this inspiring story of human accomplishment – from 1903 and into the future that will see humans go to Mars and beyond – it showcases an extraordinary collection of the instruments, artefacts and spacecraft that made a modern reality of ancient dreams. Catch this exhibition at the Sandton Convention Centre until 31 July.

Shrek the Musical

Shrek the Musical has become a global phenomenon with productions staged internationally including on the West End and Broadway. With an enormous cast, a fabulous score, speedy set changes, extravagant costumes, prosthetics and make-up – this is quite possibly one of the most challenging and elaborate productions staged by multi-award winning producers, KickstArt. Take the children to see this show at the Lyric Theatre until 17 July.
