Station Commander deployed to another police station

MIDRAND – A farewell to the community from the station commander.

 

Midrand Station Commander, Colonel Steven Moodley, has announced on his Facebook Page that his time at Midrand Police Station has come to an end. Moodley, who has been with the station for 7 years and 2 months told Midrand Reporter that he takes with him the overwhelming support the community has shown him over the years as he served in Midrand. He explained that the decision to leave was taken by provincial police. “The decision to deploy me to Head of Vispol Police in Kemption Park was taken by provincial police and I accepted that decision.”

Moodley mentioned that inspite of human resources challenges at Midrand Police Station during his leadership, police have done a lot to serve the community.

The farewell message Moodley wrote on his Facebook Page also mentioned, ‘Without any doubt I was always mindful of what the mandate of SAPS was, in terms of our National Constitution, this mandate is found in Sections 205, 206, 207 and 208 together with the Police Act and the relevant regulations…As a dedicated and loyal member of SAPS I have always done my best with the resources that were allocated to me to fulfil the mandate as described herein above.’

He emphasised how each experience and opportunity he got while at the station contribute to how he now leaves a better person.

Social media users have responded to his post by thanking Moodley for his contribution to the station and wished him well.

Midrand Police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela confirmed that the station commander has left the station and stated, “The community will be notified of the new station commander once that decision has been announced.”
