Ivory Park Taxi Association cash collector shot dead

MIDRAND – Taxi association cash collecter is shot dead, police are investigating the matter.

 

An Ivory Park Taxi Association cash collector was shot dead at about 6am on 5 July by an unknown number of suspects.

Police spokesperson Kay Makhubele said police found the victim’s body in a vehicle, which the victim was believed to have been driving, on the corner of Freedom Drive and Mnotho Street in Ivory Park.

Makhubele stated, “Police found the victim who was shot inside a vehicle and was found lying on the front seats, and had multiple gunshot wounds on his upper and lower body. A Samsung phone and an undisclosed amount of money were found in the vehicle. The suspects reportedly fled in a white Toyota Tazz.”

He said no arrests have been made. The motive for the shooting is not yet known.

Ivory Park Taxi Association chairperson Johannes Mkhonza said, “The association will comment at a later stage when we have more information from the police.”
