Man robbed at gunpoint

Noordwyk – A man in Midrand is held up at gunpoint while waiting for his driveway gate to open.

The Midrand police have once again urged residents to be vigilant.

Constable Matome Tlamela, head of communication at the station said a Noordwyk resident reported that he had been held up in his driveway gate.

“As he was waiting for the gate to open on Mopani Street, he was approached by four unknown men,” said Tlamela.

“One of the men pointed a firearm at the victim. The suspects ordered him to get out of the vehicle and walked him inside his house where they took his HP laptop, a plasma TV, four cellphones and two monitors – all estimated at a value of R90 000.”

Tlamela said it was important that people know how to react when confronted with such situations.

Tlamela gave the following tips:

  • Your life is more valuable than your possessions
  • Do not resist, especially if the attacker has a weapon
  • Give up and obey the instructions of the attacker with no questions asked and move away if possible
  • Don’t try to be a hero because you can be killed.
