Microsoft Excel champion announced

JOHANNESBURG - Microsoft announces the winner of the Office Excel Championship.

 

Microsoft has found the greatest Excel practitioner in South Africa in Corné van Heerden who was announced the winner of the inaugural Office Excel Championship competition on 27 May.

The competition sees top pupils go head-to-head in Microsoft Excel challenges which include testing their ability to arrange a set of data in the shortest possible time, a test of their ability to arrange data into a visual format, as well as a test of their knowledge of Excel formulae.

Van Heerden was one of five contestants who qualified for the final phase of the competition held at the Microsoft headquarters in Bryanston, and was named the victor.

He said, “I am so overwhelmed and can’t believe I won. Thank you so much to Microsoft for hosting this competition.”

Spokesperson for the company, Obakeng Nyokong said, “Besides bragging rights and the title of Microsoft Office Excel Champion, Van Heerden also wins the latest Dell Latitude E7470 notebook, a subscription to Office 365, a Lumia 1320 Smartphone, a Jabra headset and Microsoft mouse.”
