Woman arrested for suspected stolen property

MIDRAND – The community alerts police to a crime in Ivory Park.

 

Members of the K9 unit in Silverton arrested a 24-year-old woman in Ivory Park Ext 7 for possession of suspected stolen property.

Ivory Park Police Station spokesperson, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgbela said the suspect allegedly stole computer screens, computer boxes, a heater and a hammer.

Sekgobela said police responded to a tip-off from the community after they saw someone acted suspiciously and carrying goods into a property at night.

“Police went to the address on 24 May and on arrival found the suspect and the alleged stolen property inside the house. They asked her about the receipts for the property of which she failed to produce,” she said.

The suspect also allegedly claimed the property belonged to her boyfriend who was not at home at that moment. She was arrested and taken to Ivory Park Police Station’s holding cells and will appear in Tembisa Magistrates’ Court for possession of suspected stolen property.

Sekgobela added, “The management of Ivory Park Police Station would like to thank the community who alerted police about the alleged crime.”
