Two men held for house robbery and rape

MIDRAND – Two men will appear in court for alleged rape and house robbery.

Ivory Park Police arrested two men, aged 25 and 26, suspected of committing a house robbery and raping a 20-year-old woman in Ivory Park Ext 7.

Ivory Park police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said the incident took place on 23 May, minutes after the victim’s boyfriend left the room they were in.

“The victim told police that she heard the suspects calling her boyfriend’s name outside her door,” said Sekobela.

“She opened the door for them thinking that they were her boyfriend’s friends. The suspects allegedly got inside the room and one of them threatened her with a knife before they both raped her.” The suspects allegedly took a laptop and other items.

The matter was reported to the police and the suspects were immediately found and arrested. They will appear in the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court to face charges of rape and house robbery.
