JJC raises funds for Woodrock Animal Rescue
WOODMEAD - Woodrock Animal Rescue benefits from dog fun run.
Johannesburg Junior Council (JJC) staged a dog fun run in Almer Park in Woodmead and raised more than R35 000 for the care of animals.
Hundreds of Johannesburg dog owners participated in the event.
Chairperson of the Environmental Committee of JJC, Jaymee Gobertz, said the money would go towards funding a dog clinic at Woodrock Animal Rescue operating in Hennops River Valley near Diepsloot.
“We are selling a wide range of dog food, and vendors are also paying to sell their products here. The money raised will go towards our clinic which focusses on animal sterilisation,” said Gobertz.
One of the amazing dogs that participated in the fun run was Arnold whose owner, Cheyney Travis regards as a miracle animal. Arnold was run over by a car three years ago but was ‘resurrected’ after spending a night in the freezer. “We thought he was dead and put him in the freezer for the night, but he came back to life,” said Travis.
Stella Meldau of Woodrock Animal Rescue thanked JJC for the donation.
