Vorna Valley receives Fibre to the Home

MIDRAND – Vorna Valley Residents Association says residents are happy with a fibre optic service provided by a company working in the area.

Vorna Valley Residents Association is pleased to announce that Link Africa, a company which builds fibre optic network infrastructure, has started the build of fibre to the home (FTH) in Vorna Valley.

Chairperson of the association, Marianne Nel said the first project was completed on 7 April in Jamie Uys and Candy streets.

She explained, “Even though Link Africa is being stonewalled by other entities, the company has said that nothing will stop them from bringing fibre to Vorna Valley. Link Africa has done their planning according to the rules and bylaws.”

She added that Vorna Valley residents are pleased that everyone in the area will have FTH within the next six to eight months.

Nel urged residents to e-mail the association if they had any issues or complaints with regards to the matter.

Link Africa’s head of fibre to the home, Frits Haas, explained that the company builds fibre optic network infrastructure in South Africa and leases the fibre thereafter to various telecommunications companies.

Haas said, “We are the exclusive patent holder for fibre optic cable in underground systems in Africa. This system has been certified by local government for use throughout South Africa and we have the capacity to build more than 3 500km of fibre backbone in the country’s key metropolitan areas to meet South Africa’s growing need for fast reliable and sustainable connectivity.

“Link Africa offers fibre in sewer and storm water drains. Route redundancy in sewers gives the telecommunications operator a greater level of assurance of network availability.”

Vorna Valley residents who are not on the association’s database can e-mail their details to info@vvra.co.za so the association can advise them as to when their area or zone will receive fibre to the home.
