SA Constitution takes a road trip

JOBURG - The South African Constitution tours the country to connect with everyone.

Constitution Hill and The Ichikowitz Family Foundation will spread the word of the South African Constitution across the country, in a road trip of 2 137km over 16 days, in the #IAmConstitution campaign.

The campaign kicked off on 5 May and aims to reach a diverse spectrum of people and places. The unique road trip is led by the dynamic Travel Massive organisation which is a global community of travel industry insiders, leaders, and innovators. This team of adventurers, explorers and change agents will showcase South Africa’s magnificence beyond its physical beauty, and get South Africans talking about what the Constitution means to them.

The programme of activities includes education workshops with community projects, National Parks conservation tours and wildlife preservation experiences.

Through the duration of the tour, Bill of Rights posters, Constitution booklets, T-shirts, stickers, and blackboards to exchange thoughts, feelings and ideas will be handed out. The team’s experiences are being documented through compelling social media engagements on all platforms featuring exclusive interviews with people from all backgrounds.

Members of the public who cross paths with the adventurous team and #IAmConstitution-branded vehicles on the road trip have been encouraged to make their voices heard by submitting recorded and written messages about what the Constitution means to them – all of which will form part of a new exhibition at Constitution Hill opening on 10 December, the day on which the Constitution was signed 20 years ago.

“In a multicultural country like ours, with many cultures, languages, religions, and traditions, our Constitution is our most precious asset,” said Ivor Ichikowitz, chairman of The Ichikowitz Family Foundation.

“The Ichikowitz Family Foundation asks South Africa to review the dreams and hopes of all those who have gone before, to look at our Constitution and determine how far we have come.”

Connect with the #IAmConstitution campaign to let your opinion about our Constitution be heard and form part of history in the making.
