McDonald’s opens doors to show how they work

MIDRAND – McDonald's says they make sure that food is prepared in a clean environment.

McDonald’s South Africa invited Midrand Reporter to a tour of its new Blue Hills restaurant in Midrand.

Corporate affairs director of the company, Sechaba Motsieloa said the tour, called Open Door, was aimed at providing a better understanding of how the restaurant’s food was prepared.

With more than 33 000 restaurants around the world, Motsieloa said McDonald’s South Africa prided itself on providing food that was cooked well and in a clean environment. “The patties are made of 100 percent pure beef and our staff are well trained to cook the food as required,” he said.

Asked about how they handle complaints from customers, he said, “We need to be clear where the foreign object, a piece of plastic or a cockroach, could have been introduced into the food. If a customer buys food and does not eat at the premises, anything can get into the food. But if any complaints come to us we investigate and give the customer feedback.

“When the products come to the restaurant from the distribution or suppliers, where the food is packaged in such a way that we can open what we need without exposing the rest of it to foreign objects, it lessens chances of mistakes being made.”
