A pampering session for Cluny Farm residents

Midrand - Cluny Farm residents spoilt for a day

Tangled Hair and Nail Studio gave residents of Cluny Farm in Midrand hair cuts and blow waves in a day of pampering.

Cluny Farm is a home for intellectually disabled adults.

Owners of the salon Nazi Baker and Shireen Baker said, “We wanted to spoil the residents of Cluny Farm and let them know that we care. They normally cut and blow their own hair so we thought it would be nice to treat them.”

Carlswald Super Spar also got involved and provided juice and cakes for the occasion. A resident, who did not want to be named, also bought biscuits.

Owner of the Spar, Lucia Odendal said the store supported the initiative. “As businesses, we support one another in small ways to make a difference and impact on the lives of the disabled,” she said.

“A haircut is a kind and pleasant way to spoil any person, what better way to top off a trip to the hairdresser than cake and fruit juice. An act of kindness provides joy to both them and ourselves and it works wonders for the soul.”

Moroccan Oil, a haircare company, provided the shampoo. Speaking on behalf of the company, Yolande van Staden said, “We heard about the initiative and decided it would be nice to take part in it.”

A caregiver at Cluny Farm, Alta Goussard, said the home was in need of money. “We have a lot of needs and would like to ask the community to give money to us so that we can buy things we need to care for the residents.”
