New market in the city

JOHANNESBURG – There’s a new market in the city and we’re going to tell you all about it!

Constitution Hill is more known for its ability to retell the rich history of the city, not really for their pioneering spirit, but pioneering the movement of change in the market scene is exactly what they’re doing.

Launched in December last year, Constitution Hill presented their first annual Market@The Fort to market-loving Jozi hipsters, and it was received with great enthusiasm!

This is because this market scene has a twist – the organisers want retailers and consumers to get interactive.

Market@TheFort is a monthly lifestyle and culture market with a contemporary African theme.

The authentically African clothes, souvenirs, food and other products are a tourist’s paradise – but what makes this scene attractive to both locals and foreigners are the retailer activities that take place, allowing the consumer to experience the product before purchasing it – now, how’s that for customer service?

A session of food and wine tasting, natural hair care demonstrations, make-up lessons, fashion styling consultation booths and live cooking shows are just some of the things you can expect be get involved in when you check out the monthly market.

The market was named Market@TheFort because of its unique location. A history bonus of the location is the fact that the Old Fort was the very section where the late struggle icon Nelson Mandela was held during his time at Constitution Hill, back when it was a prison.

In true Jozi market style, there will be live bands playing their music at each of the market days and this makes for a fun and relaxed day out for the entire family.

Taking place on the last Saturday of each month, don’t miss out on the next Market@TheFort.
