Midrand SPCA makes a plea for dog food

MIDRAND – The number of animals brought to the SPCA keeps increasing and they desperately need food.

The Midrand SPCA is making an urgent appeal to the community to assist the society with donations of dog food.

Chairperson of the organisation, Brenda Lucas said that over the past four months there has been an ongoing influx of animals where most are being handed over to the SPCA by their owners due to relocation or the high cost of living as some people can no longer afford to feed their pets.

Lucas added, “We know that a number of other animal welfare organisations are full to capacity and animals are being referred to us and we are now in need of dog food. We need 1.8 tonnes of dog food to take care of the animals that are in our kennels.”

She mentioned that the SPCA does not receive government funding and relies solely on donations. “We thank the public for their continued support of our society.”

Midrand SPCA is an accredited BBBEEE level 4 contributor and 18 tax exception certificates can be issued upon request.
