Ward 93 councillor Annette Deppe has opened a case of theft at Midrand Police Station after Democratic Alliance election boards were allegedly stolen.
In a statement to police, Deppe said the boards, valued at R870, were put up on 28 February on Maxwell Drive in Waterfall and on 1 April she noticed that the boards had been removed.
Deppe spoke to Midrand Reporter and said, “I am very disappointed that whoever took the boards overlooked that we live in a democratic country and that we must all apply rules that govern election campaigns. Whoever has the boards, please bring them back.”
Midrand police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela confirmed that a case of theft had been opened. “Police are investigating the matter, no arrests have been made yet,” she said.
