Midrand Police’s successful drug bust

MIDRAND– Midrand Police detectives aid in a drug bust on 5 April at an undisclosed location.

Midrand and Hillbrow police stations have been hailed for their work in combating drug dealing, by provincial police spokesperson, Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng.

The two police stations’ detectives received a tip off that led to the arrest of twelve suspects. The joint operation was conducted on 5 April at 11.40 am, said Mofokeng.

Apparently an informer told the police that there were people packaging drugs at an undisclosed location. Upon the police’s arrival, 12 men were found at the house, in the kitchen busy packaging powder which is suspected to have been drugs. “The substance will be sent for forensic drug testing,” said Mofokeng.

“We can’t disclose the location and area where these men were found because we don’t want to jeopardise the case,” he said.

Although the investigation is at a sensitive stage, Mofokeng said they were hopeful that the men who had been arrested will appear in front of a magistrate by the end of the week.

“The Hillbrow Police are currently investigating this matter actually,” said Mofokeng when asked about where the docket had been opened.
