Fun, fabulous and fashion-forward: The Style Coach is helping people across SA to look and feel fantastic

SUNNINGHILL – Armed with a passion for looking good, creative flair and 10 years' experience in the magazine industry, Sunninghill resident, Dominique Wolf took a leap of faith to start her own business as a stylist.

As The Style Coach, Wolf works with individuals and corporates who need her expert touch when creating a look that is elegant, on-trend and perfectly put together.

“As much as I loved working in the magazine world, I never really fitted into that fashionista mould – my forte is really helping people look good so that they feel confident,” she said.

Already in the business for three years, Wolf added that starting up didn’t come easy. “Starting a business in any industry is daunting – it’s a big risk,” she said.

“I had children and just got divorced so I was on my own… I felt like I was jumping and I didn’t know where I was going to land, but I knew that it was what I wanted. The scariest thing is that you don’t really know until you do it, but you have to do it.”

In the beginning, Wolf lived from month to month because of her limited income. “You have to have a solid vision of where you want to be and understand that [business] is a risk, it’s hard work, it’s not nine to five anymore, you have to work late nights.”

Besides running her own business, Wolf also enjoys being a freelance stylist for photographic shoots, professional photographers, TV shows and client campaigns.

She is an avid blogger and has contributed editorially to magazines and websites such as The Afropolitan Magazine, Yzer Darling Magazine and recruitmymom.com.

Wolf is also no stranger to the world of broadcasting and hosts The Style Coach radio show on Hot 91.9 FM every Tuesday afternoon and has been a guest on Jacaranda FM and 5FM.

She also has an online TV show, The Style Coach, on alternaTV.com

Where she gets the time? According to Wolf, time management is vital to any entrepreneur and it’s also vital to make time for the important things such as family.

In the next five years, Wolf plans to be an authority on dressing – and by the looks of things she is already on her way.
