Woman’s body found wrapped in carpet in garage

MIDRAND - A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman who had been stabbed with a knife and a pair of scissors in Kaalfontein Ext 8.

The suspect’s sister reported the incident to the police, who then found the body of the woman in the suspect’s garage, wrapped up in a carpet.

It is alleged that the 27-year-old suspect and the victim had spent the night with friends in Alexandra drinking alcohol on 7 March and only returned to Kaalfontein on 8 March in the morning.

Ivory Park police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said the suspect and the victim allegedly ended up at the suspect’s residence.

“When questioned by police, the suspect denied being in a romantic relationship with the victim. He said when [the suspect and victim] arrived at his place, the victim pulled out a knife, threatened him with it and demanded his cellphone,” said Sekgobela.

The suspect then allegedly grabbed the knife from the victim and stabbed her, thereafter proceeding to get a pair of scissors and allegedly stabbing her again.

The man was arrested and detained in Ivory Park police cells and will soon appear in court facing charges of murder.
