Ivory Park police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said, “The meeting is to sensitise the community about serious crimes which are happening in that area such as business and house robberies, murders and hijackings.
“Ivory Park Police Station officers also spent a week working with a team from Gauteng Provincial Police, led by Brigadier Sam Killian, which came to assess and assist the work done by the officers at the station.
“The team assessed operations that had taken place and suggested more interventions that could assist in fighting crime. The team also got a chance to interact with the community as they helped people fill out affidavits, certify documents and helped in the firearms competency office.”
Sekgobela said the station commander, Brigadier Frank Mthombheni, thanked the visiting police team and said their presence at the station adds value and supports the work police officers do.
The community meeting will be held at the Ivory Park Ext 2 taxi rank from 9am to 3pm.
