Glen Austin High pupils go camping

MIDRAND - Glen Austin High School Grade 8 pupils recently attended a leadership, sports and life skills camp in Grootvlei as part of the Grade 8 orientation.

Teacher Loshnee Iyer said, “The purpose of the camp is for pupils to get to know each other and their teachers better outside of school. The team participated in obstacle courses and team-building exercises which allowed them to rely on each other to complete tasks.”

One of the pupils who attended the camp, Uzile Hoboyi said the camp was fun and that they all had a chance to get to know each other well. Another pupil, Rilesh Naidoo, said he enjoyed the camp. “I made new friends and could be myself, it felt like we are a family.”

The pupils also practised for the grade song for the year and the Grade 8 school concert which will take place on 11 February at the school.

Vice principal, Dirk van Niekerk said the school was proud of the way the pupils behaved themselves at this camp and it brought to light the many leaders in the group.
